After going through different posts on this forum and net search, i am planning to apply for a master in engineering program at Simon Fraser University for may intake (1 aug to 15 sep deadline)


I have 3.01 cgpa out of 4 in my undergrad electrical engineering degree.84% in matric and 75% in fsc.

I have inquired by email and they are saying if your university issues you a certificate that your medium of instruction was English you will have exemption from ielts. Will applying without ielts will be a wise decision since i don't have much time to prepare and give ielts.

Secondly, looking at my profile what are my chances of securing an admission at SFU. Is admission at SFU very competitive??

i think so M.engg programme at SFU is not available for international applicants. Correct me if i am wrong

Its available, since their Graduate Program Assistant School of Engineering Science told me about the IELTS exemption.

No its not required for masters

please check the second paragraph of the description..

if you are an international student, you can get only if you are working in canada from past 6 months.. just because of that i applied to POST BACCALAUREATE DIPLOMA program in sfu , and i got admission for jan intake. Though visa is yet to b filed..
