I am just starting the application process for my wife. She is not in Canada now. I have finished document IMM1344E. She need to sign it of course.

Is the only accepted method for having her sign this is to first print the document then actually mail the paper to her, have her sign it then return it via mail to me? Or, is there another acceptable way?

She has a tablet with a pen - could we use that? Is a scan acceptable?

Thanks,

MT

Scans are not accepted. The signature has to be original.

there's quite a few documents she'll need to sign, so get her to do them all at once. don't miss any signatures or your application will be returned to you after 2 months.

fill out all the forms and email them to her in PDF format, then get her to print them out, sign them, and mail them back to you. this will save you some time as you won't have to mail anything to her.

Thanks for the help. I am not surprised, given that I am dealing with a government, that we have to use the most inefficient method available even though we have modern technology. I am sure David Suzuki will cry when he finds out I am cutting down trees and burning fossil fuel sending paper all over the world.

David Suzuki also complains that in regards to immigration, "Canada is full", and we need to rethink out immigration policy if we care about the Canadian environment. So he likely rather not have an application sent at all in any form.
