Although for some of you this may be still a long way ahead but the new Citizenship Act Bill C-24 is going to affect all foreign temporary workers. In fact it discriminates against our group as we are the only group which will be affected by twice as long extension period.
I have started a petition on Change.Org here: https://www.change.org/en-CA/petitions/senate-of-canada-house-of-commons-mp-s-do-not-allow-the-discrimination-of-former-foreign-workers-by-the-new-canadian-citizenship-bill-c-24#
Once we have enough support and signatures I plan to take it to media, MP's and House of Commons. Your help is crucial, please sign, forward and share on Facebook, Twitter as much as you can.
Re: New citizenship rules affecting foreign workers
Signed! I hope we can remove this rule as they don't even talk about it in media! They've just mentioned longer wait to get citizenship. Nothing about removing the time before PR. I guess that is because it does not make sense and they can't argue of its benefits!

That's exactly right. This point is hard to argue as it doesn't make any sense. However it is well hidden in the body of the bill and can be easily passed (given the overall anti-immigrant sentiment in the public) if we don't act fast. By signing and distributing the above petition we can (try) to make a change.
It will once we have 25-50K signatures. The signed petition will be brought to MP's and we will make sure that our questions will be discussed and answered in parliament before the vote.
Hi guys.
stay with the present then you happy...Think about PR before Citizen.....Most of the people in the world are suffering because of never stay with the present time....

Right. The stupid people are also the happiest. You can also try to go blind and deaf to pass your days...
But for the rest who refuse to be shortsighted, please help drive a change:

I also hope that this part of the bill is reviewed, however this full "discrimination" nonsense won't help any of us achieve it.
Citizenship is not a right by default. Nor is being able to count time towards it prior to PR a right. It's up to Canadians to choose what the requirements are. Just because we don't like it - doesn't mean it's discrimination.
The system is riddled with fraud and this is what the government are trying to prevent.
In essence, as they see it, if you intend to stay in Canada for good and to work... What's the problem? What is the issue with waiting 4 years? For people who intend to make Canada their home for good - nothing. In the US it's 5 years!
For those who want the passport and then want to explore other options - it's a bummer. But this is exactly what the government is trying to prevent. They want people who are here for good - not those who want the advantages of the passport without paying into the system in the long run.
