My boyfriend who is already in Canada is applying for an extension on his visa from a work visa to a tourist visa. Although its not a requirement, he wants to write an LOE and thinks its a good idea to mention one of the reasons he wants to stay on a tourist visa so that he can spend more time with me. I'm not sure if this is a good idea or necessary. Does anyone know if this will help or hinder the application? THANKS.

It won't make any difference. As a work permit ends, a visitor period is quite common to be requested and granted.
