On the PA side, after getting the 3 lines; 'We received.....', 'We started processing....' and 'Medical results received', is there a 4th line we should expect, or is the next communication via email from the VO?
I'm just wondering what to expect next. We didn't get an AOR2 email but have the 'We started processing...' line on ecas on the PA side.
Also, any idea if (hopefully not) they request for additional documents, would it be early on in the processing stage, middle, towards the end of the average time for that VO, or unpredictable?

Our case, aor2 was sent but auto deleted. We only found out ordering gcms notes.
Additional info, specifically request to redo 5669e back to 18 years old and not 10 years.
No 4th line ever for us, even now after COPR was received.
Not scaring you, but if you are concerned, order gcms notes right away. Only way to find out.
It could be too soon for us to order them; it hasn't been a month yet since our file was sent to the VO.
I'm just curious what to expect next - I guess I can leave ecas alone then for the time being, it seems further communication is done via email.
Does the VO request for additional documents early on when they receive the file (if they need any), or is it unpredictable when you could be asked?

Time line for your reference...
App received Aug 3
AOR1: Sept 2
SA: Oct 16
eCas active for applicant side around end-Oct: says "we started processing your application on Oct 26..."
AOR2: Nov 5 (this email got auto-deleted, but it looks like a bulk email which a lot of people with similar time lines would receive)
Never a 4th line saying "we sent you correspondence on Nov 5...". Some posters report they do get this, but it's not a sure thing.
In our case (HKVO) it looks like AOR2 came quite quickly after the VO got the application transferred over, and in this case there was action that needed to be done. I am not saying you need to take action or missed something, but if you should get AOR2 and did not get it, you would not know. That's your original concern.
It may be early for notes to show other useful info, but it's only 5 dollars and you have nothing to lose. If there was request for additional info or redoing of certain forms, you would catch it. The VO will not send out the request again assuming you are acting on it, and I don't know how you would get through to someone at the VO to confirm whether AOR2 was actually sent out. I can see some posters having success asking the VO to send out AOR2 when they did not get one. I have never gotten the VO to reply to email inquiries although notes show that they received the request and actually looked at the question.
My understanding is that the line 'We starting processing .... ' is an indirect AOR2. I take it that means the file has been transferred and is being worked on.
If there was a request for further info/documents, don't these requests come only via email to the PA?
How does one order GCMS notes?

Well, you can say that "We started processing..." is sort of an AOR2. There is a formal AOR2 email (or letter if the person does not have email) that some may get. Some also call it the "perfection letter" which has generic reminders, such as update your family members if that has changed, send in police certs if you have not done so, get medical for dependents even non-accompanying ones, etc.
Your originally question was did you miss something. Is it possible to miss something? And in response to that, I am just sharing our experience...what you were concerned about actually happened to us. AOR2 email was sent, but not received (our fault) and there was action for us to do. Worst case scenario happened. If I had not ordered notes, I would still be waiting for VO to process thinking it is normal...months and months wasted, plus the risk that CIC will close the case eventually. This happened to someone in this forum...CIC closed the case because applicant did not respond to request for information (not sure what that info was, but that's beside the point).
It's up to you to continue to worry or do something about it. If you want to do something about it, the most effective way is to order GCMS notes.
As to how to order, you can search in the internet for GCMS notes, and there's a Youtube video teaching you how to do it.

Hey there we haven't had any updates as well

can you please share me your GCMS notes once you requested for it?
heres the link:
https://atip-aiprp.apps.gc.ca/atip/privacyTerms.do
and a note only your sponsor can ask for it or if you're in canada right now you can request by yourself.
me and my husband are planning to request by mid june or july

I read that it's common not to receive AOR2 via email. Are you saying that AOR2 (if it's sent via email) will actually say what documents are missing, if any?
We check our email everyday for something from the VO, so I'm almost certain we're not missing anything.
Let's assume they do not send AOR2 via email, if they require any other documents, at which stage is that request normally sent?

From what I have seen here, AOR2 would include things or remind you to send things in, even those that would not apply. You can see in timeline spreadsheets that people say "additional documents requested" date, and appear to almost always coincide with AOR2. There are other communications later on asking for other things: expired medicals, more proof, for complicated marriage situations or customs where marriage cert is not enough more docs, etc. I would say that these are not the typical cases.
For a typical case, AOR2 if sent out with reminders, it is supposed to make your case complete by that time, and allow the VO to finalize eligibility...again, talking about our case as an example. We found out Feb 3 from notes that AOR2 was sent out asking to re-do 5669E...we immediately did it that very same day, and notes later showed an officer took action on Feb 4 to continue eligibility work. Eligibility was completed on Feb 16. I would say that for routine cases where there are no red flags in the relationship, the application is supposed to be complete when submitted, and definitely no more omissions after AOR2 reminder. You can say that the the bottleneck is whether the officers would look at it and then just give the seal of approval as a matter of formality.
So if you think about it, the VO should not keep coming back for more certs, more documents, etc. later on unless it's a non-routine case. And if it's non-routine, then it's really different for everyone so little reference can be obtained looking at other people. The only thing people can do in such cases is to learn what happened and how to handle such situations...how long it takes, it's luck of the draw.
For us, it was a routine case...only thing non-routine was auto-delete of email to my spouse. As this does not happen a lot, but still happens, I wanted to share with everyone to make sure someone can learn from the experience and not have to repeat that.
