Hi,

I recently got Invitation to Apply and was thinking if I should add my girlfriend as a common-law spouse in my application. I am holding a Post Graduate Work Permit and she is under a Study Permit. We have been living together in different locations for 4 years. Currently she is living with me in my property since September 2017 but she has a family property so her address on file was that property. We also don't have any joint bank accounts, joint leases nor joint property ownership.

The only evidence I have towards our common-law relationship is photos/messages since we have been together.

Should I add her as a common-law spouse to my profile? Am I misrepresenting if I do not add her?

I have searched a while online but no one seemed to have a similar situation as I have.

Will really appreciate some help......thanks!

Hi

Yes, you need to declare her as your common-law partner and yes, it is misrepresentation if you don't. It is extremely difficult for someone to live somewhere for over a year and have no proof of that.
