My question is we plan to fly into Calgary end of December from the States for my Husband to Land he just received request for passport to get confirmation of pR, we were going to ship our household goods via u-pack or some similar service.
I am reading on all the shipping sites that you must in person sign off to clear your goods at the border issue for us is border is 4 hours from where we will be and it will be dead of winter difficult road conditions possibly.
Any one have any input or experience on this and also anyone who has shipped what was the process like and good companies to use?
Thanks so much,
Rebeka
Have your husband bring the custom declaration forms with him when he flies into Calgary. The CSBA officer at the airport will stamp the forms. When the goods arrive in Calgary, the shipper will provide you with a bill of lading. You will then go to the local custom office with the "goods to follow" form and the bill of lading to clear the goods.
Most probably you won't need to go to border. For work permit, I entered Canada through Champlain border but I got custom cleared at downtown Montreal customs office.
