I did the same for my dependent(spouse) after talking to a RCIC, so you should be good. The RCIC gave me two reasons for doing so, first it was unnecessary paper work to get employment letters for my spouse as I wasn't claiming any point. Second, the more docs you submit to IRCC, the more time it would take for them to process your application.
