My husband and I will be arriving in Canada (Calgary, specifically) in September. I am a Canadian citizen by birth, sponsoring my husband for his Permanent Resident visa. We will be arriving before he receives his PR. I believe that I am eligible for immediate healthcare in Alberta from day one. How about my husband? Can he also receive immediate healthcare benefits due to marriage to me? Or should we purchase private medical/dental insurance for him before we leave for Canada?
