Hello everyone,
I am filing for an adult legal name change in Ontario but the application came to a halt when ServiceOntario declined to proceed with the application because I did not send them my Record of Landing when I came to the country even though I sent them my IMM 5292 COPR. Their reason is that COPR does not say Record of Landing anywhere on the document. and they will not proceed with the application until I apply for Verification of Status VOS and send them that instead.

IRCC stopped giving out Record of Landing IMM 1000 back in 2002 and replaced it with IMM 5292. I don't think it's fair to make me wait all that time for a VOS that will have the same exact information on me IMM 5292.

Anyone with similar experience can shine some light please?

Your best option is to escalate the issue with Service Canada.

That easy? Ok I will. I already contacted my federal-local MP about the issue and we'll see where they go with it.
The lack of communication between the federal and provincial government is really stupid. I mean that form has not been giving out and has been replaced since 2002.
