Sent Study Permit Renewal Application to Wrong Location

I have a situation where I sent my study permit renewal application to New York instead of Vegreville, Alberta. I was advised by someone on the site to send it to Vegreville however due to outside advise I still sent it to New York. I cannot get any answers from the consulate as to whether it will be forwarded or denied. Should I resubmit my application to Alberta or wait for word from the consulate? The processing time from the day I sent it is 6 weeks & is also the date for which my permit expires.
