hello i'm pardeep from chandigarh, India. and i am applying for canada for this september intake. I have 60% in computer engg, diploma and IELTS with 6(L-7.5,R-6,W-5.5,S-5). so i want to know wether i get admissions in any college or not. and i'm very scared about my visa also weather i get it or not. so could any one suggest me about this.

Hi,

In my opinion, IELTS score is too low. You need min. 6.0 overall (with no bands less than 5.5) for Certificate and Diploma Programs and 6.5 overall (with no bands less than 6.0) for Fast Track Diploma, Post Graduate Diploma and Ontario Graduate Certificate Programs. Even if you are planning to take admission in a Diploma programme you need min 5.5. in all bands, with 6.0 overall (but you must aim for taking admission in a Bachelor's degree or atleast a Fast track diploma and you will need 6.5 overall with 6.0 in all bands). I don't think, it's possible for you to get admission to any college, ( you need to talk with the colleges and see if they may accept your current IELTS score or not) let alone applying for visa. So..1st step IMPROVE YOUR IELTS SCORE. Try to score min. 6.5(6.0 in all bands), and then proceed.

Then..well and good. Go ahead. I was talking strictly in terms of college admission requirements. It often depends on the college to grant admission with lower IELTS score and you will need to talk to them. And regarding visa, overall profile, strong finances, good track record, appropriate course selection.. matters most and of course luck plays it's part. People with 8.5 IELTS score may not get a visa, and people with 5 may get.. depends on overall package of course. But, it's always good to have higher IELTS score.

Can't say definitively ... But, as long as your remaining overall profile is strong, there shouldn't be a problem. But, again... it's always good to have a higher IELTS score.
