same employer new job: permit

Hello,

I am in Quebec on a closed work permit, currently working for a company doing job A. What if the same company offers me job B (different position and roles entirely), how do I go about the work permit? I know I cannot use my current work permit because it is a different job even if it is the same company. Do I simply go to the border, bring my job offer letter, and re-apply for a new work permit?

Unless you are LMO exempt, you need a new LMO and then you can get a new work permit.

thanks, I am LMO exempt. How do I go about applying for the new work permit? Can I get it at the border? What if the new boss needs me urgently?

Yes - you can get a new work permit at the border. If your boss needs you urgently then you should get to the border as soon as you can. You can't start the new job without a new work permit.

May I also ask, how about if both husband and wife wants to apply a new work permit with skilled lmo and sowp respectively at the border, would it be possible also?
