What if I have not paid upfront (because it was overlooked) and would want to pay now, will it be better to pay now or should i just wait for the letter to arrive?

well, i got the client ID and file id as well. In fact, i am on my 2nd med. exam and the results were sent already, hence if everything goes well, AFAIK, then PPR will be next, hence this RPRF should be done as well!
Ipaid right fee 4 months after applying by then i had got uid and file #. Please advise do i need to inform visa office also, or they get automatic info from cpc mississauga. Thanks

It's now stated on the application guidelines that paying RPRF upfront will help in processing times or pay now if you already submitted your application if you have a Client ID already and don't wait for them to ask for it. Because of backlogs better not to give CIC reasons to delay your application.. And yes, it shows your commitment on your application.. You can have a refund anyway if ever.. It's worth a gamble...
So hypothetically, what you guys are saying is that if my application takes at least 4 months and I paid the RPRF fees 2 months in, it could still cause a delay.
If they get to that point....and see it is not there....ask for it....it seems like it gets set aside.( they must go on to another file then go back to yours later-my guess)
Prob NOT the answer you want to hear BUT we read here all the time......there are delays of months.
Your choice...maybe they will not get to that point in 2 months.
I would not chance it if at all possible.
Good Luck!
My process was Inland and not having paid the RPRF upfront made no difference at all. They were doing their background investigation instead. I paid the fee at my landing interview.
Perhaps Outland is different?.
It might go down again on the Immigration Officer.. Maybe if IO is doubting the commitment of the relationship of the applicant, paying the RPRF upfront might mean a big deal... Still case to case basis and we don't know on what our applications will fall into..
In my case, I'm the applicant and I use my own credit card to pay the application fees.. Then on my FOSS notes, the IO put an entry that I'm the one who paid the application fees which should be the responsibility of the Sponsor.. For me it's not a problem coz in fact my credit card is just secondary of my coomon-law but the IO do not know that.. So as a damage control, I let my common-law use his credit card to pay my RPRF.....

yes it is. outland in general is faster, and you cant tell in your case if it made a difference because inland has so much more wait time & checks...but i does make a huge difference outland.
