RIV late payment notice

Hi forum,
We recently completed soft-landing at Vancouver Port of Entry via car.
At the time of landing we had the car title with us and the officer asked whether we want to import the car to simplify the process later. At this time I explained to the officer, that we will not be moving permanently within 1 year, but they said that is okay, you can export the car from USA to Canada at the time of the permanent move.
Then, I proceeded to fill the paperwork and pay 100$ CAD fees at the border.
However, later I got a late payment notice from RIV, which says I need to pay Import fee and also that if I fail to get an inspection done within a week from now my ability to import cars maybe suspended.

Questions
1) I am ready to pay the import fees, however I would not be able to take my car for inspection as I am not in the country at this time.
2) If I get the inspection done, would they then ask me to export the car from the USA ?

It would be great to understand if anyone else has faced the same issue and the process to fix this.
