I'm a Canadian PR. My PR Card expires on 24th Nov, and I am planning a trip abroad from 26 Oct - 3 Nov. I would have completed my 2/5 years the week before I leave for my trip. Could either of the following become an issue when I try to return to Canada on 3 Nov:
1. I have little time (less than 6 months?) left on my PR card?
2. I just completed my 2/5 years in Canada and then left for a week? Do I need more days in my pocket to be 'safe'?
I plan to apply for renewal of my PR card only after I am back.
I will appreciate any help or experience from anyone who has been in this situation before. Thanks much!
1. No
2. No
Even if you encounter a CBSA officer, upon your return, that has `concerns' that you may not be in compliance with the R.O. to maintain PR status (only a PR CARD expires, not status), you will be allowed to re-enter Canada.
Just a warning that PR cards usually last over 5 years so you typically lose some days from when you landed. You would then be under a rolling total where you must have been in Canada for 730 out of the past 5 years on any day to be compliant with RO.
Thanks a lot Ponga! Is there anything I can carry with me as proof of completing the R.O. that I can show to the CBSA officer in such a case?

Got it - thanks for the callout. I checked and I am good for the last 5 years since my 2 years stay is recent.

You should look whether on your return w’you remain compliant although typically if you are close to meeting RO it is often overlooked.
