Does anybody have experience or advice on this topic? I am a Canadian born citizen living outside of Canada with my wife who I am sponsoring. We have applied outland and have SA. Is it possible to return to Canada together while we wait for the application to be processed? Obviously I can go back at any time but how would she be able to go with me or is it not possible? Any ideas?
if your spouse does not require a visa, then she can travel to canada freely and enter as a visitor, assuming CBSA has no issue with her intentions for entry. What's important for any applicant to remember is that they are ONLY a "visitor". they are not traveling to canada to "live" or "move" there until their PR application is approved. There are many applicants who accomany their spouses back to canada and stay in canada as a visitor until approval. CBSA may ask for proof of ties to the applicants home country, which usually means proof of housing/employment. Showing proof of the application and fees paid are also helpful.
If your spouse requires a visa, then she will need to apply and be approved for one before traveling to canada. while it's not impossible to get one, it's very difficult for pr applicants to get one.
