"Return date" if you are applying ONLINE from abroad

What do we put in the "Return Date" on physical presence calculator if we meet all the RO requirements up until the date of application however if we are still abroad? Should I just put in the date of the application? Or any other suggestions or facts to what I can/cannot do?

On similar lines I had read in the forum the applicant had put a future date and then in letter of explanation explained the situation and the correct physical presence days as the calculation would not be right. I am not able to find that post.

In my case, I cannot put in a future date since then I will not meet RO.
