Hi I have applied for visitor extension before my student permit got expired and now I wanna apply for spousal open work permit. Now my confusion is do I need to restore my status as a visitor or student to apply for SOWP and I haven’t received any response on my visitor extension yet its still in processing.

Post under foreign workers unless spouse is citizen/PR and sponsoring you. Also explain how eligible for SOWP if a student.

Yes my spousal is PR in Canada and I have already applied for PR application . I have received my AOR and now I wanna apply for SOWP but i want to know do I need to restore my status as a visitor or student??

You are applying for an OWP and not a SOWP. You do not need to restore your status.

But when they are asking what is your current immigration status?? What I have to select there and there is no “other” option.

Because you applied to extend your status, you are covered under something called `Maintained Status' while your application to extend is being processed. Because of this, you can now apply for the OWP since you have received AoR for your PR spousal sponsorship application. You should list your status as`visitor', since you did not apply to renew that previous status.
