Could anyone please explain how the residency calculation works.
I came to Canada in march 2002 as a student completed my university and currently have been working for almost three years.
I became landed on September 18 2010. My question is how does the residency calculatin works regarding the 1/2 day rule before becoming landed immigrant and one full day after becoming landed. Since i have stayed for almost 8 years in Canada, how are the days calculated as in the 730 days that i have to qualify for before applying for citizenship?
Any explanation/feedback will be highly appreciated.
If you haven't left Canada at all, though, you'll become eligible for citizenship September 2012, i.e. 2 years after you became a PR. You can never gain more than 1 year towards citizenship from time in Canada before you were a PR.
I tried to use the calculator, and it told me I was not entering dates correctly -- when I was only using the drop-down menus!! Much easier just to use a calendar and add up days in Canada.
