I came to Canada in October 2015 as a Visiting Research Student for a non-degree program on study-permit and have 1 year full-time (40 hours per week) research assistantship experience. I was wondering if I am eligible to apply for Canadian residency as CEC?
Thank you for your reply.
Actually, I have done two kinds of work in this period: some of them which are scholarship based were tax-free; But, for the other kind of work which I did on the campus I paid tax. I think the second kind of work can account for Canadian experience for CEC application because as I realize the work which is part of the study and can not account for CEC doesn't involve taxs. What's your opinion?

No - it won't count either. Any work experience gained while studying cannot be counted. It doesn't matter if the work was part of your studies or not.
Dear All,
I came to Canada as a visiting scholar for my PhD dissertation research in a Canadian university (I am a student at my home country). I am here with a work permit but the funding comes from an alumni organization from home. Does the time I spend here counts for Canadian Experience Class application?

I got an ITA with my research visit to Canada as I had work permit. I am still a PhD student. I will let you all know, what happens as I am not certain whether they will accept my work experience. My work permit was linked to the Canadian employer - that being the university. The salary (compensation: scholarship) came from my home country, but this means I was paid. So I'll let you know what happens as I got my AOR last week.
