Requirement of GIC under non-SDS category

I have received the offer letter from BCIT,Burnaby and I got to know that BCIT doesnt fall under the SDS category, and hence i wished to confirm that is GIC account mandatory for the students applying visa under non-SDS category

gic is not mandatory if you are not applying under sds. but it is highly recommended as this is proof for vo that you have enough funds to support your studies.

again, its not mandatory.

Also they demand me fees for first term only and not for the entire year?

bcit is a dli that offers programs that qualify for pgwp. why did it not qualify for sds?

I am from India, and scored an overall band of 7.5 in IELTS with least in writing as 6.5.
Yes BCIT does have a DLI and it qualifies for pgwp for all the programs it offers,does that imply it falls under SDS category, because i couldn't find any authorised list indicating colleges/institutes under SDS.
Also, as mentioned earlier BCIT demand first term tuition fees only, while I got to know that under SDS category the student has to pay their tuition fees for the entire 1 year
Pls clarify.

almost all college/uni requires at least 1st term payment. it doesn’t mean you cannot make advance payment for 2nd term. can you check your loa if they did not list the 1 year amount? durham college listed 1 year but requires at least 1 term tuition payment.
