Hi everyone, Im from Guatemala where I currently live with my family (3 young kids) and my wife (born in Canada) We applied for outland family sponsorship in march. I studied in the US for 5 years about 18 years ago and I also studied in Spain for a year about 13 years ago. I recently received a request for fbi and spain police certificates. I've started reading the process and it seems complicated. I was wondering if anyone really knows how hard it is to get these documents, any recommendations or help anyone can give me I would greatly appreciate it.

thank you

The FBI PCC I thought you could get through a channel partner. Though I defer to others who have done it.

The PCC from Spain, can you not get it by making a request at an Embassy of Spain if there is one in Guatemala ?

Since the OP is neither a U.S. citizen nor Green Card holder, a Channeler cannot be used.

For the FBI IHSR letter:

Have a complete set of fingerprints taken (old fashion ink and roll) and placed onto the FBI FD-258 card, which you can find on their website.
Most places that offer fingerprinting services should have these available as well. I suggest having two sets taken (meaning two cards), just in case there is an issue with the first set.

Send the completed card(s), along with the application and payment ($18 USD), to The FBI in West Virginia. They will [eventually] mail you the letter that you then forward to CIC.

Good luck!

Thanks for keeping me honest here -- we didn't have to work with the US, so I couldn't draw from experience.

For Spain: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/europe/spain.asp

You are not a citizen of Spain (I assume?) and you are living outside of Spain:
"You must complete and mail a Model 790 application from the Criminal Record Certificate page, along with all supporting documentation (see Information or documents you need), to the Central Office of Citizen Services at the Ministry of Justice (see Special notes and considerations for complete address)."

Here is a link for the Model 790 application: http://www.mjusticia.gob.es/cs/Satellite/en/1200666550200/Tramite_C/1215326258560/Detalle.html

Thank you everyone for your help, I'll follow it and try to get all the documents as soon as possible

thank you

Do you guys think if I just regular print the FD258 fingerprint application and fill it out that would be fine? With that, the application form and the 18usd cheque certificate and that would be all right

Also does anyone know more or less how long it takes for the spain police certificate?

thank you
