Hi,
do you guys have any recommendations for the agencies dealing with newcomers? It seems really difficult to rent an apartment in the whole metropolitan area without credit history or a co-signer. We are looking at Burnaby/New Westminster area. If you have any info or personal experience to share, please help!
But couldn't you begin living in Airbnb (no credit history needed), build up your credit history on the way until you have a good score and then gradually try to get a permanent place for rent?

If you don't want to waste money on renting, then you can either buy your own home, live in your motor home, live in parents/friend's home or become homeless!

Airbnb is ok for the first month or max two until you get a long-term place, but it is so much more expensive than the usual rents. It takes a long time to build up credit history, too long for staying in an Airbnb.
It seems like, unless you are really lucky, the only way to go is to spend loads of money by paying in advance, or to move to far suburbs.

You can also check out short term rentals - 3 to 6 months. They don't ask for credit checks on short rentals. You can find listings in rentbc.com or kiiji.ca.
