Dear all,

I immigrated to Canada 30 years ago but left 2 weeks after landing and never returned with no ties ever.

Believing I should have long lost my own PR status due to the fact that effectively I have never stayed in Canada, 3 years ago I applied from scratch to immigrate to Canada once again together with my own family.

During the immigration application process, I still took the formality to officially renounce my original PR and everything went smooth.

Now comes the question. When I left Canada and for the past 30 years, I didn't aware I have to declare non-residency. Though there is no question asked when my original PR renouncement got approved, I am still wondering if there is a chance when I got my new PR, I have to file all my income tax over the past 30 years?

Insight appreciated.

No need to file taxes for the past 30 years. You were not a resident for tax purposes.
