Renewing visitor visa (while waiting for PR application)

Hello,
My common-law spouse came with me to Canada from Japan. She is visiting the country and my family while we are waiting for her PR application. We'd like to renew the visitor visa/ temporary resident visa she is currently on.

Can anyone direct me what I should do?
I checked online but I came across two pages on the CIC site:

I'm confused. Which one is right? Furthermore, will she need to do a medical check?

Hi

As a Japanese citizen, she is visa-exempt and therefore doesn't have a visa here in Canada. She has visitor status, which she can extend using the first link, http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/extend-stay.asp.

Medical checks are requested for visitors that spent more than 6 months in a risk country in the year before they entered Canada. If a medical is requested, she can simply send the proof of the medical that she did for the PR app.

Thats good to know. Was worried she would have to do another medical which not only would cost a lot, but defeat the purpose of the other medical she just did a month ago.
