Renewing passport with visitor visa still valid

Hello friends

One of my family members (Indian citizen) has canadian visitor visa. This is their situation.

Passport validity - Nov 2023
Visitor visa validity - same as above - Nov 2023

If they renew the passport next month (April 2023), can they still travel to Canada on their existing visa and return before Nov 2023?

Someone told me that canadian visitor visa is tied to your passport, you renew it and the visa is no more valid but that doesn't sound right to me.

I'd appreciate any inputs.

Yes,they can ,as someone travelled last week from dubai with both the new and old passport

U can have both passports..so travel on old passport coz visa will not be transferred on new passport.

I have a question regarding renewal of my sister's Visitor Visa.

This is the current situation:

Her Visitor Visa (initially issued in 2019 until the validity of her passport expiry -2025) is due to expire in July this year.

She has got her Indian passport renewed and entered Canada (carrying both new /old passport) in Feb 2025. As there is no exit date stamped at the time of her entry on the passport.. she can by default stay here for 6 months (until August) this year.

I need to apply for her new Visitor Visa while she is still in Canada. So that when she leaves.. she can enter Canada on a Valid Visitor Visa.

I have applied for her Visitor Visa extensions in the passed but this in this case i need to get her Visitor Visa renewed.

Does anybody have any insight on this. How do i apply for her new Visitor Visa? Would appreciate a revert on this!

Unless otherwise specified she can visit for up to 6 months but whether she should is a very different answer. She needs to apply for a new TRV when she returns home.
