renewal of expired health card

Hi, i'm 16 and needed to renew my health card. It expired in mid August while I was out of the country. I plan on leaving within the next two weeks for the U.K. on a study visa(6 years). What should i do about the renewal and what's the process now that my card has expired. Thanks in advance.

There's no point renewing your card if you are leaving Canada for 6 years. You must be living in Canada for 153 days out of every 12 month period to keep your health care coverage. Since you won't be meeting this requirement for the next six years, you should forget about trying to renew your card now and wait until you have returned to Canada permanently once your studies are over.
