I have offer letter from my employer in Canada, and when I started searching apartment for rent, the first question was do you have job offer letter. and it was easy to answer and search apartment.
But I wonder, how other new immigrants find apartment in Ontario, Canada. Because after landing it takes time to find a job, does that mean one can't rent an apartment until s/he get the job offer?
What's your thoughts, suggestion & experience regarding same.
For the beginning the best place for immigrants is Scarborough (east part of Toronto area)
Apartments are cheaper than in Toronto. In Scarborough you can find very easy two bed room apartment for 900-1000$ per month.
In Toronto you can not find anything less than 1400.
Scarborough is immigrants area for newcomers :-*
Part of finding the perfect apartment is finding the right location. Be sure to check out the different neighborhoods in Ontario before you decide on your apartment to make sure you are in the right neighborhood for you.
brampton is good but do chk the neighbourhoods...IN SHAA ALLAH i'll be going to hamilton which is 30 min from brampton..if you do settle in brampton then stay in touch..we'll meet in canada IN SHAA ALLAH
Brampton is good choice ... 2 bedroom Basement cost u 750-850 $ depends the facilities provided by Landlord, 2BHK Apartment costs u 900-1200 Again depends upon facilities .. Only problem in Apartment case is legal binding of contract of 1 year atleast if you breach the contract in between u have to pay for the balance months
I am taking 1 y diploma course from Durham College after landing to upgrade by credentials.
Any idea about rentals, survival jobs availability, & reputation of Durham College in job market (I am taking chemical engineering diploma (fast track) with field placement).
Rent in brampton is slightly cheaper compared to toronto, but an issue is the daily commuting - if you study or work in toronto then it could be a hassle - especially in winter. It takes about an hour to reach toronto, and the buses are once every half an hour.
I'm not an expert, but i have travelled to brampton once (from toronto) and i took the "GO" bus - it departs once every 30 minutes from "Yorkdale metro station" and the return ticket costed around 14 CAD.
Thanks a lot emamabd, What will be other areas in Toronto where I can think to settle considering schooling, groceries, public transport for job, etc
