Hey, has anyone experienced this?
I just got a refusal letter from CIC that terminates my status in Canada. The reason given: "You do not possess a valid Labour Market Impact Assessment and Confirmation from Employment and Social Development Canada."
However, I do have one. My employer received the LMIA confirmation on May 30, and I immediately added it to my application using the web form.
Timeline is like this:
Jan 14 - Applied for an LMIA through my employer;
Apr 24 - Applied for new work permit with two weeks remaining before my current permit expired. I attached 'proof of submission' for the LMIA (which is allowed in this case);
May 3 - Current work permit expired;
May 30 - Received approved LMIA (2-year duration) and forwarded the letter to CIC immediately;
Jun 12 - Application refused on the grounds that I do not have an LMIA.
This is messed up, because I've now lost my implied status even though I did everything I was supposed to do. The refusal letter says I can apply for 'restoration of status' but presumably that takes months like everything else.
Any ideas?
