My open bridging work permit has just been refused because the application process took much less time than normal. My acknowledgment for pr should have been recorded but it took longer and meanwhile the work permit was processed and it looks as if I dont qualify for a work permit now. I can't even apply again . Can anyone help me. I will have to leave the country until my pr is granted which is likely to be July 2015. My lawyer says they won't discuss anything.

The information you have provided isn't completely clear. It sounds like you applied for the BOWP before you had AOR and that's why your BOWP was refused (which makes sense). It also sounds like your work permit has now expired which means you no longer qualify to apply for the BOWP.

If that's correct, then your only option if you want to stay in Canada and work is to find an employer who is willing to offer you a job and who can also obtain an approved LMIA. Once the employer has an approved LMIA you can then apply for a closed work permit. Once the closed work permit is approved, you can start working again.

Scylla,

Thank you so much for your reply. if you don't mind - can i ask another question. as he is legally out of status with the abridging open work permit denied - is he legally allowed to go for another job to get the lima?
