I live and work in Ontario (OWP) and I have OHIP coverage. Last month I travel abroad to visit my family and I injured my back. I had to go to the hospital and pay some bills (around $1000). When I came back, I was told by a coworker that I can file an out-of-province claim through OHIP for this.
According to the website, I have to fill a form and translate the bills (they're in Spanish). Translating this will cost some money. Has anyone done this process before? I want to know if it's worth to pay the translations or if I'll just waste my money.

Based on the few experience I've heard about, it's not going to be worth it. But I honestly only know of a handful of people who have tried this - maybe 4?
Assuming you took out travel insurane, I would make a claim against that policy. I think that's your much better bet.

Can you figure out how much of that you would get back from the insurance provider? Come to think of it, you would probably need to get everything translated for them too so then the translations might be worth it. Then you can submit to OHIP first and then following that to your insurance provider.
Looks like you may have been waiting for a new passport to apply for PGWP extension. Do you have the PGWP extension yet and do you have a valid OHIP card?
