Hello everyone
I am moving towards claiming asylum at the US-Canada border, however I have concerns over work permit, when is the earliest I can have my work permit? and how much time does the refugee status usually take to be granted? given I am Syrian either entering via a family member or crossing border.
thanx
hi there , you can apply for work permit after you arrive , you can apply online via CIC . usually takes around 35 days , and would be free too. Best of luck!

If you apply for a work permit online it takes 4weeks and 12 weeks for paper application and the whole refugee process takes more or less than 3months depending on your Board member.
