I received my RTD around a month ago and very recently I received an email regarding my permanent residence application. It seems to have been approved and I need to submit confirmation that I am currently in Canada as well as other information (can someone tell me if this means I am a permanent resident now?). My question now is (assuming I am now a permanent resident) should I apply for a PRTD, or should I just stick with my RTD? I have four countries I want to travel to: USA, Turkey, Egypt and Tunisia. My highest priority is USA (I lived there for most of my life so I would like to go back ASAP to see friends). I am hoping to travel this summer, but I am going to wait until I have my PR before I do anything. Also, does anyone have any knowledge/can provide any help with regards to the visa application to USA.

You need to stick with the RTD. A PRTD is not a travel document. It serves a completely different purpose.

There are discussions in the Refugee / Asylum section of the forum about applying for a visa to the USA with an RTD.

Make sure you do not return to your home country.
