I applied for refugee claim this year, January 2025 from Vancouver. If I want to move to different province, preferably Regina or Edmonton, will it be a problem in terms of processing of the application. I haven't heard from IRB yet, not expecting to hear as per other's update by end of this year.

Not receiving any legal aid. Have a private lawyer. Will update the address. But thinking about if it's going to impact the processing time for the application

I hope whatever decision they take regarding refugees, it helps Canadian Economy. People who are living in social assistance and on the contrary, who are contributing to Canadian economy by paying taxes, these things should be considered.
Actually in the light of fake applicants and people who abused the system, real claimants will be suffering. I am pretty conservatives are going to reshuffle the whole process.

Yeah. It's kind of evident that people are not in favor of Liberals, whatever Trudeau has done, won't get suddenly changed overnight by Mark Carney but in terms of immigration, Conservatives will be more strict. Especially they will reformat the process like refugee application > Judicial review > H& C. It's like buying more time to stay here

No matter who is in power both H&C and asylum need significant reform. The math just doesn’t math and both asylum and H&C are costing a small fortune. Processing times can’t be 5+ years. In general asylum claimants/protected people aren’t necessary an economic benefit or taxpayers. It can often take a generation to lead to more substantial economic benefit although there is significant variability based on applicants.
Next spring probably not realistic even if you qualify for less complex these days. There are 270K+ applications in processing with the ability to process a small fraction of this. Either processing gets closer to 3-4+ years or changes need to be made. Also creating issues downstream because PR for protected people also taking closer to 3 years within Canada and longer for family members abroad. If you have a genuine claim for asylum and have not lived in Canada under another program first with no option to qualify for PR you should want reform.
As long as I can work, the higher processing time won't bother much. I am expecting some reforms are made so that wait times reduces. People are waiting for 3 years to get PR, that sucks !!
Also, even if reform happens, it will take quite a while to process these applications, might reduce the time like 20-30% but not going to be like 60-70% faster. So on average 2-2.5 years processing time should be expected as per current situation.

Don’t think PR processing times are going down any time soon. The goal is to limit the number of people who can claim asylum. For example potentially stopping anyone who is/was an international student from claiming asylum.
