My wife is now a permanent resident (PR) of Canada (as a refugee). My own PR application is currently being processed at an overseas Canadian embassy. I have already submitted my documents and completed my biometrics for my PR application.

I am currently in Canada as a refugee claimant. I have received my Brown Paper and have also submitted my refugee claim through the IRCC portal after arriving in Canada.

My question: What happens to my PR application now? Will it be canceled because I have made a refugee claim inside Canada, or will both processes continue in parallel?

Any insights or experiences would be greatly appreciated

im confused, if your a refugee claimant, you cannot apply for PR until you become a protected person, meaning you had a hearing and the judge approved you.

The important thing is never withdraw your claim before you receive your pr card. I believe they will process your pr. If you get your pr before your hearing you can withdraw your claim and use your back home passport also. But if they approve your case before your pr application is processed you need to go with refugee claim.
