Hi, my BF of 1 year has applied for refugee status as a GAY, it was refuse now he is waiting for his appeal decision. I was wondering if we can still get married and if I can sponsor him.
Sure - you can sponsor him. I would apply outland.
If the appeal is refused, he will most likely need to leave Canada. If you submit an outland application, it will continue to be processed even if he leaves Canada.
Also you should expect more scrutiny in the PR app considering the applicant is a recently failed refugee claimant. Hopefully there is a strong supporting case over a long period for the relationship before marriage.
