Reference letter from ex colleague

Hi everyone,

I can't get a reference letter from the old company i worked for. Two of my ex colleagues (which have left the company as well) have agreed that they will sign reference letter for me - according to IRCC requirements.

I am not sure if I should get them to write in on a plain paper and get it notarized, or get them to write an affidavit or sworn statement.

Which one should I go with? If it is affidavit or sworn statement, any one can provide templates for immigration purpose.
