I am about to start my PR application via common law, I had a bit of a bad experience with the agent I was using initially and would love it if anyone has any recommendations at all for a good immigration agent to use based in Toronto.

Best recommendation you will get is to not use any consultant/lawyer, unless you have some serious criminality, inadmissibility or other such issues, or just feel like giving away a couple thousand dollars.
Vast majority of people do the apps on their own, and ask any required questions to this forum.
Not to mention there are literally hundreds of experiences on this forum of agents/lawyers giving wrong or bad advice that led to problems and delays in applications.

back in early 2010, my dad ended up paying thousands to this lawyer from Canada (Vancouver or Edmonton, not sure where he was based) - Think his name was Shafiq ... after taking the fee and confirming that he had filed our immigration papers (gave us a confirmation number - ECAS or whatever they call it now), he went missing and was not reachable through phone, email or any other mean possible ... a few years later i went to Canada to study and found out where his office was, popped in and turned out it was an agency known for milking others of their cash, promising them a lot, giving them fake reference numbers and in the end saying 'sorry you did not get accepted' .... made a formal complaint and left it at that ... not sure what happened to him after that as i left canada to go back to my home country ...
i did apply for immigration (FSW) in 2014 after doing my own research, like many others, and had no issues at all during the process. got granted permanent residency without ever having to see the face of another lawyer ... my advice would be the same as what Rob_TO suggested and go through it on your own ... the internet is a very resourceful place and all the information is out there to see/use ... plus i found the guidelines on cic to be good enough to go through the whole process without any help at all
