Hi everyone...new here. Actually not new but was to afraid to ask questions so I kinda lurked in the background to gather information. Thanks for being so honest about everything. Excited today my husband got his work permit but dang, there is some things that have us confused.
history:
Inland Spousal Sponsership: Wife Canadian/Husband British
Married: Feb 20, 2011
Application to Vegerville: Mar 4 2011
First letter: Feb 24 2012 ( allowed us to apply for work permit) is this implied status?
Sent in all medical, police checks and requested info.
June 20,2012: Application transfered to Edmonton Local CIC What does this mean?
June 21 2012: Open work Permit: Case Type 27? Remarks say: application for permenant resident status has recieved initial approval. Then it goes on the say This document does not confer temporary resident status.
I am so confused...what do we really have? and does this mean soon he will be a PR?
Thanks, if you can help me understand this stuff I would be so greatful.
Rhonda
Was the first letter (2/24/2012) sponsorship approval? It sounds like you've gotten 1st stage (sponsorship) approval, and that your application was transferred from Vegerville to Edmonton after the sponsorship approval. Unfortunately, you've probably still got a while to wait. If you scroll down
on this page you can see the 1st stage/2nd stage processing times for inland applications.
Right now, stage 2 is supposed to take 8 months, which would give him his PR sometime around October or November. Keep in mind that the number shown is how long it takes to process 80% of cases, not an average, and that stage 2 processing times usually vary widely.

This thread may be able to give you better info.
Yes the first letter was sponsership approval. I just wish we knew more. I seriously lack patience

Thanks for your advice and answers to my question. Immigrations seems to be doing updates on Fridays, I will take a peek then and see if anything has changed.
Our file was transferred from Vegerville to Edmonton on June 21/ same day they issued work permit. Maybe its a good thing

Did you apply for open work permit as soon as you were allowed to do so (as in, a few days later), or did you wait a little more ?
Did you apply online or by mail ? how long did it take ?
Thanks !
Well we are still waiting for PR....last info recieved was June 21 2012 giving a work permit. We have had to send in another work permit application now to renew because this one will expire in June 2013. We still have not heard anything about residency. It seems like so long since our file was transferred from Vegreville to Edmonton. There has not been any new updates, or requests for information from Immigration. Anyone else waited this long for PR??
We started this inland spousal sponsership Mar 4 2011. Anyone time lines PLEASE!
