received Confirmation of Permanent Residence

From what I've read, it seems most people are being asked to mail in their passports to get visas. I haven't been asked to do that. I just got 2 copies of my Confirmation of Permanent Residence and 2 pages that talk about entering Canada with the CPR, nothing about mailing my passport or taking any other steps to get the visa. The pages say "you must carry your CPR and your passport to enter Canada." But the CPR says "not valid for travel". I'm confused! I could email my elusive immigration officer, but I may never get an answer. I'll be driving a moving truck from North Carolina, and I reeeeally don't want to get sent back at the border. Anyone know what's up?

If you hold a visa exempt passport you are not required to submit your passport. So assuming you're American - everything is fine.

Oh, thank you! I'm nervous about moving without the actual visa. I just saw this on the website under "prepare for your arrival":

When you arrive, you must have:

Your valid passport and/or travel documents. Your passport must be a regular, private passport. You cannot immigrate to Canada with a diplomatic, government service or public affairs passport.
Your valid permanent resident visa and your Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR). The officer will make sure you are entering Canada before or on the expiry date shown on your visa. Please note that this document cannot be extended; therefore, you should make sure to use it before it expires.
Proof that you have the funds to support yourself and your family after you arrive in Canada.

As said above, you do not get a visa because you are a visa-exempt American citizen. You will need only your COPR and passport to land.

Nah... That CoPR is the real magic.. The visa is merely an "enabler" for those that need it.
