It was mentioned in the email that my application is currently being processed at the Abu Dhabi visa office and we're currently conducting background investigations. We'll notify you regarding your visa decision once the background checks are completed.
I haven't made any enquiry about my visa application so why did they send this email to me? Has anyone else received a similar email? what does it mean?

The email itself is not weird, I have received the exact same thing many times.
However, the fact that you received it WITHOUT submitting any case-specific inquiries is strange, because usually this is the response they send for it.
But I would say don't worry about it. Although I didn't get my visa yet, I have read many many people that got it after receiving such responses
Agree with Omar. I got the same email but when I asked for my application status. But getting it without asking is wired; still doesn't mean something is wrong. Wait and see
