The official waiting times on the CIC website for Outland Spouse Sponsorship is 17 months. But on this forum I've read claims of 5-8 months. Is that true?

My wife is Canadian, in Canada. I'm British, visiting Canada. But if in REALITY it takes on average 6 months to get PR Outland route from UK, I will consider going home as Inland route isn't quite working for us.

Thanks in advance!

Yes - that's accurate for UK nationals. Don't do inland - outland is by far the better choice.

BTW - you can apply outland while in Canada. Many of us here have done that. You don't need to leave Canada.

Thanks Scylla!

So, Outland UK takes about 5-8 months, not 17 months as posted on CIC website?

Also, I'm waiting for a response on my visit extension. I'm worried they will refuse it as I didn't show ties back home or intent to leave. My wife is due to give birth in May - but I don't suppose that's enough to grant the extension?

Thanks again!

that is correct, provided that there's no interview and any requests for additional docs are dealt with immediately.
