My girlfriend and I recently got engaged and we plan to have a church wedding in Toronto, hopefully within 2015. We plan on having a civil ceremony here in the Philippines this month and submit all sponsorship documents within the month as well.
Can you guys comment on how long did the entire process take to sponsor your spouse from the time you submitted all required documents?
We applied outland through Manila 2 years ago. It took eight months. Nine months if you count the month between getting COPR and the flight from MNL to Toronto. It took two months for us to get everything together after the wedding.
Thank you for the reply. My Friend's the have gone through the same process also told me it took them 6 to 8 months a couple of years ago. It seems that the process takes longer now, I'm hoping to get feedback from recent applicants.
I'd be interested in hearing as well. I recently married in the Philippines and we are almost ready to file our application (new passport is on the way with my wife's married name, thai police clearance is being stubborn).
Hopefully it won't take too long. I may attempt a dual intent visitor visa as well, there's some family stuff and a friends wedding I'd like her in canada with me for, before the current 8+ month waiting period.
