WE secure the help of our MP last tues for a follow up of our application. We have not receive anything since our file was transferred to cic etobicoke last oct. 10. Our MP called this morning said the only reply they got from CIC is "sponsorship for further verification". What is this mean, how come they took them this long and still verification on my part as sponsor? I didn't have any sponsorship since then. Just an overview, i am sponsoring my husband, we've been common law partner before we came here in nov.2010, but this is not recognized in our country. Got married feb. 2012 filed sponsorship last march 2012.
Thinking of sending and outland sponsorship instead, will this be wise? So depressing to wait this long.
I suspect CIC is investigating your application to determine if you qualify to sponsor your husband.
If you and your husband were common law before you became a PR, then you should have included him in your PR application (it doesn't matter if your country recognizes common law relationships or not). If you were common law before you came to Canada and became a PR, then technically this means you can never sponsor your husband because you failed to declare him in your original application.
At this point all you can do is wait and hope CIC decides that you do qualify to sponsor your husband. However if you did in fact fail to declare your husband in your application, then you should be expecting a refusal and should start planning what you will do if you cannot sponsor your husband for PR.
Submitting an outland application won't make any difference. You'll still be in the same situation you are in now.

Thanks for the reply, i actually became a pr before we became common law. I was married with my first husband whom i included in my application then when i became PR. i came to canada as family under skilled professional category, i am the principal applicant. Then got divorced with my first husband and re married feb 2012 to my husband now who i am sponsoring. Do you think this is the reason why it taking so long for my approval as sponsor because i re married immediately after divorce?
