After completing Landing formalities can one re-enter Canada, by car, using passport and COPR document? The CIC site mentions that PR card is needed only when arriving through commercial carriers (plane, ship etc). After completing Landing, I am planning to re-enter permanently in summer 2010; hence the question. Providing a friend's address in Canada for receiving the PR card is always an option, but I am trying to see if there are other alternatives.
I don't see any other alternative. Your friend can send the PR card by courier or registered mail if it is safe.
The COPR copy says it is not a valid travel document. So?. In case if you are turned back from the border you can re-enter with the PR Card once it is received.
