I recently participated in IEC and returned home in March of this year. I want to return to vacation in June but my visa has expired and I cannot get another one, which is fine but I also had I return home to re new my passport as that was expiring aswell but is now renewed. I’m aware that as an Australian I can be granted up to 6months for a visit, although I’m only going back for less than 3 so I can travel with friends and tie up some loose ends eg. bringing back personal belongings and shutting down my bank account. I was wondering if anyone can shed some light on the fact, wether or not that will hinder my ability to re enter Canada to simply travel with some friends and with no intention of working.

You must apply for a new eTA (Electronic Travel Authorization) now that you have a new passport.

How long you are allowed to stay when you re-enter would depend on the CBSA officer you meet at the border. All going well, you could expect to stay for up to 6 months.
You would also want to bring evidence of funds to support your stay + ties to Australia (a lease, employment or a job offer to return to, etc)

Ok no worries, that helps a lot. I just didn’t want to come off as suspicious to CBSA being that I had already spent some time in Canada so this really puts my mind at ease because I have no ill intentions at all, just would like to wrap up this part of my journey. I do have documents proving that I have ties to Australia. If there’s anything else I should bring to put a CBSA mind at ease feel free to let me know or any other tips, that would really help me out. I want this to go as smooth as possible! Thanks again!

Oh I see. Well I had been there for almost two years having participated in IEC. Do you think this will affect my entry into Canada? Even though I’m only going back for two months, with a return flight ticket?
