Questions abou LMIA and close work permit

Hello guys, I a currently holding a post graduate work permit, it is still gonna be valid for two years, the question is if I got a positive LMIA, am I gonna be able to apply a close work permit? Since my pgwp is still valid, how could that work? Thx

But then why does your employer want to apply for closed work permit when you have PGWP which is valid for 2yrs?

1, Because it would give him/her 600 points in express entry

you don't need an Close WP if your PGWP is still valid. Of course the +ve LMIA will get you the 600 points.

So if I understand correctly, LMIA cannot be applied only for Express entry?
