Question regarding re entering Canada.

Hello, I'm wondering what happens if my application to have my visitors visa extended is refused. I'm currently in Canada and my visa expires October 1st and my work permit and permanent resident paperwork is still processing, so I submitted an extension for my visitors visa but I'm afraid it might be a little late. If it is too late would I be able to re enter normally via the border immediately or is there a waiting time?

You can certainly try re-entering immediately. Whether you are allowed in and for how long will be up to the CBSA officer you speak to at the border.
