Hi everyone, Im from Guatemala where I currently live with my family (3 young kids) and my wife (born in Canada) We applied for outland family sponsorship in march and recently on nov 8 I received an email requesting new medical exams. I wasn't sure at first what they needed since when I applied in march I sent them my medical exam and results. I then called the dr authorized to do the exams in Guatemala and told me they could need them again since 6 months have already passed and the previous results don't can't be used anymore, is that right? Could this be the reason? O well for now I've decided on doing them again in the following days and resending them. Also because they are requesting this does this mean the process is in its final stages? How close am I really to getting a decision on my case?

Thank you very much

6 months? Where did they get that from? Meds are supposed to have a 12 month shelf life. Meds are usually requested pretty close to finalising the case.

I asked over the phone to the dr office and the secretary told me it could be that they need the med exams again because 6 months had already passed.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/medical/medexams-perm.asp

Validity:
"Your medical exam results are valid for 12 months only. If you do not come to Canada as a permanent resident within that time, you may need to have another exam."

Did you sent the medical results, or did the panel physician that you used, send the results?

The medical exam is valid for one year. You should send [again] evidence of the date that you had the exam...along with a calender. ;)

Try also sending a Case Specific Enquiry.

I've heard of doctor's offices contacting applicants, informing them that their medical has expired (money grab), but CIC should realize what their own policy is regarding medical exams.

Was the email from CIC, or was it from the doctor's office?

I believe I sent the results. The email I received was from MXICOIMMIGRATION@international.gc.ca and the attachments were IMM1017

Would greatly appreciate your help, thank you

Reply to that email and attach proof (i.e., copy of your receipt) of when and where you had the medical exam.

Ive talked to the office where I did my medical exam and they told me for sure Canada already received my med results but for some reason they want them again judging by the need of the same IME no they are requesting

Did the official email from CIC specifically request a second medical, or did it simply say that you need to have a medical exam?

It's not uncommon for CIC to lose things, including things as important as this.

If they did NOT ask for a re-medical, I'd ask the doctor's office to re-send the original medical and for you to send proof to CIC that you've already jumped through this hoop.

the subject on the email read: NEW MEDS and my name and application number
Dr said its not possible to resend them

thanks

On what date did you actually have your exam?

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/medical/medexams-perm.asp

Your medical exam results are valid for 12 months only. If you do not come to Canada as a permanent resident within that time, you may need to have another exam.

Unless you really want to incur the added expense of having a new medical, I still suggest you ask CIC if/why your medical has expired.

I did my medical on February 5th
The problem is getting in contact with CIC, I have a tough time calling, emailing etc since they don't answer my requests
Maybe because the subject on their email said NEW MEDS for some reason they need new ones and feels like they didn't lose them. I wish like you said I didn't have to take the new expense and do the medical all over but not sure how I talk to them

thank you

It's odd that the letter came from what looks to be the Mexico City visa office, since you say that you applied from Guatemala.

Try this:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/contacts/web-form.asp

Click on `Tell Us More'

Answer the questions. This should take you to the appropriate Visa Office's Case Specific Enquiry page.

Complete the form and attach (upload) any pertinent information (receipt for you medical, for example) and
ask why your medical has expired in only 9 months time.

Good luck!
